Dominique Rey Grange
Here are a few of the things we found out about M. Rey Grange when we attended a management committee meeting:There is a path at the side and back of the chalet which gives the main access to the apartments. Steep banks surround this path. The path is constantly muddy from where mud (especially if raining or snowing) drops from the banks onto the path. It is obviously a place which needs adequate and properly thought out drainage. It transpires that M. Rey Grange decided this was not necessary and saw to it himself. As problems developed he apparently asked various of the contractors to put things right and do necessary jobs but by this time and due to the money he paid – or didn’t – nobody was inclined to help. We are therefore left with wet muddy pathways, with a high risk of danger to some of the apartment entrances flooding.
Some of the apartments have a patio area rather than a balcony. On the original plans these were of a particular size but somewhere along the way they got bigger (possibly to incorporate the covered parking spaces). However, when they were finally ‘finished’ – six months after the handover – only the original dimensions were laid with tarmac – the extra bits were simply filled in with gravel. No doubt they ran out of tarmac and available money.
The exterior of the chalet has never been finished off or painted. The reason for this … according to Rey Grange is that there are several covered parking spaces outside which he wants to sell to ‘outside’ people … and for some incomprehensible reason, until these are sold he cannot finish the chalet’s exterior. No-one can see why anybody would want to buy these parking spaces … so we could be in for a long wait.
The garage has inadequate venting.
It is the norm for chalets of this type to have shutters across their big balcony windows. None of the apartments do. It transpired that shutters were actually on the original plans but Rey Grange took them off to cut his costs. Residents are now having to fork out in order to have them put on and sort out the installation.
Apparently toughened glass should also be used on the windows for insurance purposes. Rey Grange says they are. They are not.
The chalet does not have mailboxes – they are situated down the road.
Rey Grange and his company have built several other chalets in the vicinity and there have been just as many problems (if not more) with these and other issues e.g pinching the next door neighbour’s land, never finishing the car park so that the residents had to tarmac and finish it themselves.
This man is a rogue. He should be stopped. Please do not buy from him. There are other reputable companies around.
