Bathrooms
The bathroom is the tiniest room imaginable with the tiniest of spaces to stand at the basin. (Ok, we can’t complain too much about the size as we had the plans and saw the dimensions but…. one might expect that because of such tiny dimensions the architect would have used some common sense and designed things with space saving in mind). The bathroom consists of a bath, a basin and a towel rail. The door doesn’t open properly because the towel rail is in the way and no thought whatsoever has gone into compensating for the lack of space. There is no bathroom cabinet or shelf on the wall which would be easily achievable. And although it would have been quite easy to put the basin in a vanity unit or at least to have built a shelf underneath it, this hasn’t been done. This seems incredibly short-sighted and of terribly poor design. When we mentioned this to the promoter, although he agreed, he said that it was standard and that all the apartments were the same. We subsequently found out that this was not the case as we visited another apartment and found that a shelf had been built in the casing which the basin was in.Both the bathroom and shower room had mirrors which were extremely badly fixed onto the wall. SEE PHOTO BELOW. The tiling and painting around them was dreadful and needed re-doing. This was noted on the list of snags
In the shower room the heated towel rail was missing. Again there was not a single shelf or any storage space . Moreover, not even a shower enclosure or even a curtain rail.
It is quite obvious that everything has been ‘on the cheap as far as it possibly can be’.
There is however a massive and very unattractive water tank in the room that ought to be covered up. Apparently this is much bigger than was originally planned, is certainly very ugly and takes up a lot of valuable space.
There is a hole in the WC room which needs blocking where the hot water cable goes. This was noted on the list of snags
